My name is Josephus Walker but most people call me Joey. After spending the better part of a decade aimlessly wandering through academia, and one year of manual labor, I emerged from the other side as the proud owner of a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the fine institute of higher learning formerly known as Macon State College. Oh, the places I would go!
Reality set in quickly and I became employed in menial tasks for the next few years. During this time, I became the master of several unique, yet useless, skills. I can now ride a wheelchair wheelie for a half-mile, beatbox like nobody’s business, solve a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded, and make up exorbitant stories based in zero fact.
Knowing that only one of those skills would ever serve me at all in life, I decided to return to college to pursue the opportunity to do one thing I really loved doing: sharing my passion for history with anyone who wanted to listen. So I am now pursuing my Master’s Degree in Teaching from Georgia College and State University and will graduate in May.
In the hours that used to be spare time, but are now filled with homework and exorbitant procrastination, I like being outside as much as possible. I go fishing and camping whenever I can and I love playing sports, though I rarely excel at any of them. I dabble in some disc golf. I coach baseball, as well, which I hope to continue doing once I become a full-time teacher.
I am a HUGE sports fan and my fandom has been shaped by the state I was born and raised in: the ol’ Peach State. I am a Braves, Falcons, and Hawks fan and I live and breathe UGA football. Before you even consider the thought, yes, it is tough to suffer that much in one year, every year.
